Heartfelt Creations - Altered Message Board

I have another Heartfelt Creations project to share with you today.   We are featuring the Tropical Paradise Collection!

I love to browse thrift shops for little treasures.  I cam across a memo or message board that was in great condition.   I immediately thought of my Heartfelt Creations images and knew I wanted to use the memo board for my altered project!   I hope you enjoy this!

Heartfelt Creations - Thinking of You

Although I am on vacation in the Cook Islands, I wanted to make sure I shared my card using the wonderful Classic Petunia Collection!    I know I used the Petunia Bouquet before but I just had to use it again and have some fun with the Elegant Borders Die.  I think they coordinate so well together!    I also want to share the exciting news that one of our design team members started her own brand of frosting powder and crystal glitter.   She arranged to have some sent to us and I must say - I am in heaven!   I love the stuff.   I think I will be adding frosting to everything!  LOL

Heartfelt Creations - Petunia Floral Topiary

Spring is bursting out all over around me!   I live in Valley Springs, California and flowers are in full bloom!    When I saw the topiary SVG file, I just knew this would work perfect for Heartfelt Creations new Classic Petunia Collection.    This would make a perfect centerpiece for any special occasion.   Can you imagine a wedding reception with a topiary on each table?    I love weddings!

65 lb.  white cardstock, heat tool, paper trimmer, pearl designer hat pins, baby breath, green ribbon, floral moss, 5 inch styrofoam ball, 3.4 x 2.5 x 3.5 inch floral foam, hot glue gun, 12 inch wood dowel, floral tape, rocks to add weight to urn, pearls, watercolor brush,  Tattered  Rose and Worn Lipstick Distress Ink,  Peeled Paint and Forest Moss Distress Oxide Ink, Mini-mister, SVG file Thank You For The Music,  flower soft or green spray acrylic paint.

Create the urn from  Thank You For The Music SVG file.  I used paper from the Classic Petunia paper Collection.  Place a few glass decorative stones in the bottom to weight the urn.  Trim the floral foam to create a snug fit inside the urn.  Stuff left over foam around the edges to prevent the stones from falling out.

Spray paint or cover the round styrofoam ball with flower soft.   I had Flower Soft so I applied Dries Clear Adhesive to ball and then the flower soft.   (Tip:  You can also create your own by rubbing two pieces of styrofoam together, applying some re-inkers and allow to dry).   Apply  floral tape  the full length of the dowel.  Apply one end of the dowel  half way inside the styrofoam ball and the other into the base floral foam.

Stamp the small and large Classic Petunia flowers on white cardstock using white embossing powder.  Heat set.  The petals were watercolored using Tattered Rose and worn Lipstick Distress Ink.   The leaves were watercolored using Peeled Paint and Forest Moss Distress oxide Ink.   The petals were lightly misted on the back for easy molding and shaped using the Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit.
The flowers were layered and adhered with Designer Dries Clear Adhesive.

Sprigs of Baby Breath were applied using a hot glue gun.   Small floral bows were placed in locations around the ball.  The flowers were applied to the topiary using  pearl hat pins.

Floral moss  was applied around the top of the urn.    For the finishing touch, tie a bow around the stem at the base of the floral topiary.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.   I love the floral topiary and can imagine so many different occasions when this could be the perfect centerpiece!    I hope you check out the new Classical Petunia Collection soon!

Rose colored cardstock, green cardstock,  Copic Alcohol Ink Markers and colored pencil (Petunia - RV11, RV21, and Prismacolor Magnolia, Leaves, G99, G94, G21, YG11, YG21, YG67), beads, wire, Gesso, glue gun, double sided tape, Baby's Breath

Create a 5 1/2 x 51/2 top folding card.  Cut some coordinating rose colored cardstock at 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 inches.  Select the designer paper from the Classic Petunia Paper Collection that has "It's a Beautiful Day" across the bottom.   Cut the designer paper at 5 x 5 inches.  The card has a lot of layers so you will want to use a heavy double sided tape to adhere the layers.

Stamp the Classic Petunia Bouquet Stamp with Desert Sand Memento Dye Ink on X-Press It Blending Cardstock.   Color the flowers and leaves with Copic Alcohol Ink Markers or your ink of choice.   My color combo for the Petunias was   RV11 and RV21.  I darkened the center and shadow areas with Prismacolor Magnolia colored pencil.   The large leaves were colored with Copic G99, G94 and G21.  The smaller leaves were colored with YG11, YG21 and YG67.    Cut the image 4 additional times and adhere together to create strength and dimension.   gently curl the image inward with your fingers to give a slight inward bend to the bouquet.    lightly apply some Dries Clear adhesive to the flowers and sprinkle with Baby's Breath Ultrafine Transparent Glitter.  Allow to dry.   Apply a light coat of Dries Clear Adhesive to the large green leaves and sprinkle with Crystal Ultrafine Transparent Glitter.

The Open Leaf stamp set was stamped on green cardstock with Olive GroveMemento Ink.  The leaves were die cut with the Classic Leaf Die.    The edges were sponged with Olive Grove Memento Ink.   The leaves were lightly misted and shaped using the Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit.  Stamp, cut, sponge and shape 4 - 5  leaf stems to add fullness under the bouquet.

Use some pearls to create a fun embellishment.   I love to bead and have left over beads that I love to use for this technique.   Tread some wire through them and then Gesso the stem or you can wrap in floral tape if you prefer.   If you do not have beads that are the correct color, you can gesso the bead and color if you prefer.

The Open leaves, baby breath, bead wires and focal image were adhered with a glue gun for strength.

Thank you so much for stopping by.   I love having you here!    We have a lot of new designers so I hope you check out all the wonderful creations from my wonderful teammates!
